As a luxury destination wedding photographer based in Naples Florida, I know how important it is to plan your wedding photography timeline carefully. Your timeline is an important step in the wedding planning process. It helps ensure that you, your photographer & your bridal party are on the same page and that every important moment is captured, given the hours contracted. Here are some tips for planning your wedding photography timeline
- Determine your Priorities:
- Think about what is most important to you when it comes to your wedding photos. Do you want a lot of posed, formal shots, or do you prefer a more candid, documentary-style approach? Make a list of your priorities and share it with your photographer. - Consider the Timing:
- Keep in mind that wedding photography can be time-consuming, especially if you want a lot of posed shots or want to take photos in multiple locations. Be sure to allow enough time for traveling, traffic and late family members in your timeline for the photography portion of your day. - Communicate with your Photographer:
- Work with your photographer to come up with a timeline that works for both of you. Most times we make timelines to work in our favor which in return give you the best most effective timeline possible! Be sure to share your schedule for the day, most importantly the start and end times of your ceremony and reception, as well as any other important events or details. - Be Flexible:
- Remember that things don't always go according to plan on a wedding day, so it's important to be flexible and be prepared to adjust your timeline if necessary. - First Look:
- First looks are great to maximize your photography coverage. Maybe you only have your photographer for a limited time, a first look give you the ability to do your formals and portraits prior to ceremony so that you can enjoy your time with your family and friends at cocktail hour vs spending that entire time taking portraits!
By following these tips, you can create a wedding photography timeline that ensures that every important moment is captured and that your photographer has the time they need to get the shots you want.
