As I arrived at Historic Round Lake for Adam and Claire’s engagement session, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. This shoot held special meaning for me—Claire is the sister of one of my past clients and has now become a dear friend. Working with friends to capture their most cherished moments is always an honor, and I was eager to create something truly unforgettable for them.

The location was absolutely stunning. The old historic buildings and picturesque lake at Round Lake provided the perfect backdrop for our photoshoot. The timeless charm of the area, combined with the natural beauty of the lake, made it an ideal spot for engagement photography in Saint Pete. I knew right away that this session was going to be memorable.

Capturing Love at Historic Round Lake

As I began photographing Adam and Claire, their love and joy were evident. They were so comfortable with each other, making my job as a photographer a breeze. My goal was to capture their relationship in a way that felt organic and genuine, focusing on the love and connection they share.

I blended a mix of timeless editorial poses with candid lifestyle shots, aiming to create a collection of images that truly reflected their personalities. Encouraging them to interact naturally—laugh, joke, and just be themselves—led to some of the most beautiful and heartfelt moments of the day.

Of course, no photoshoot is without its challenges. The unpredictable Florida weather threatened to rain on our parade, but we managed to work around it. In fact, the moody sky added a dramatic touch to some of the photos, enhancing their beauty in unexpected ways. Navigating the bustling setting of Historic Round Lake, I ensured that we captured intimate moments amidst the crowds enjoying the beautiful day.

Tips for a Successful Engagement Session

For couples planning their own engagement session, here are a few tips to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience:

  1. Choose a meaningful location: Whether it’s a place with sentimental value or simply a spot that reflects your personalities, the location sets the tone for your session.
  2. Be yourselves: The best photos are those that capture genuine emotions. Don’t be afraid to laugh, play, and enjoy the moment together.
  3. Prepare for the weather: Especially in Florida, the weather can be unpredictable. Embrace it—sometimes, a little rain or wind can add a unique touch to your photos.
  4. Wardrobe matters: Coordinate outfits that complement each other and the location. Consider how the colors and styles will photograph in the chosen setting.

Despite the challenges, the shoot was a huge success. Adam and Claire’s love shone through in every photo, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I can’t wait to celebrate with them at their upcoming wedding at Hotel Haya, knowing that our time together at Historic Round Lake will always hold a special place in their hearts.
